Every first Friday of the month from 6 to 9 pm, V2_, WORM, MaMA, and Kunstinstituut Melly open their doors for free during the vibrant Art Evening in Rotterdam. The place where you witness the future of art unfold before your eyes, not the established order, but experimentation and innovation.

Every first Friday of the month, this art quarter transforms into the epicenter of innovative art in Rotterdam. Within one block, you’ll find four art institutions that push boundaries and bring new ideas to life. V2_, WORM, MaMA, and Kunstinstituut Melly open their doors for free between 6 and 9 pm with exhibitions, installations, performances, talks, music, and more. This is where the new generation of artists and visitors comes together.

V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media is an interdisciplinary center for art and media technology. It presents, produces, archives and publishes projects at the interface of art, technology and society. Since 1981, V2_ has offered a platform for artists, designers, scientists and theorists to share ideas and explore the social impact of technology. Through critical dialogue, artistic reflection and practice-based research, V2_ creates a context in which technological developments are examined from a cultural and social perspective.

Worm
WORM is an independent, experimental arts venue in Rotterdam. We support radical and diverse ideas and makers, often through collective, transdisciplinary practice. WORM has a number of maker and performance spaces – and permanent art – situated around our building. We programme music, performance, exhibitions, film, club, and community projects. We maintain strong grassroots and global networks. Our vision as mission: WORM is the catalyst for new perspectives, and a contributor towards forward-thinking plurality!

MaMA (Media and Moving Art) is a Rotterdam-focused contemporary art platform with an emphasis on experimentation, curiosity, awareness, and reflection. Since 1997 MaMA is a space for young creative, critical voices and is supporting program makers and artists in strengthening their vision and agency. Peer-to-peer learning is at the core of MaMA’s talent development trajectories.

Kunstinstituut Melly
Kunstinstituut Melly is a public institution for contemporary art that explores current issues through collective learning and critical dialogue. Through innovative exhibitions, art commissions, discussions, and educational programs, we create a learning environment where different forms of knowledge are shared. We catalyze thought and inspire public debates about art, culture, and society. Since 2021, we are named Melly, after Ken Lum’s iconic artwork on our façade.
